Where to Find 3D Files for Custom Printing
Cannot find the model you want in The Printable Dragon's range? You can look for a digital 3D file elsewhere and request a custom print from us. Here are some useful places to start, whether you are planning a tabletop character, terrain, a display piece or something practical.
Start with our range: browse the models we already supply. If you find a design elsewhere, check with us before buying it specifically for a custom print.
Places to find 3D files
MyMiniFactory — miniatures and tabletop terrain
Browse MyMiniFactory for designs from independent creators, including characters, monsters and terrain. Read each listing to see which digital files are included and whether supported and unsupported versions are supplied.
Hero Forge — create your own character
Visit Hero Forge to design a personalised tabletop miniature. Choose the STL Download option for a printable file. Its virtual tabletop digital models are a different product and are not intended for physical 3D printing. Read Hero Forge's digital model guide before purchasing.
Cults3D — props, figures and creative projects
Explore Cults3D for free and paid designs across a wide range of projects. Check the model description, file formats, dimensions and licence on the individual listing.
Printables — practical designs and hobby projects
Explore Printables for community models, organisers, accessories and other creative projects. Creator notes and photos of completed prints can help you understand how a design is intended to be printed and assembled.
Before you download or buy a file
- Choose a file made for printing. Look for a printable STL or another format we can confirm is suitable. A game asset or rendered 3D model may need extra work.
- Check the licence. A free download or paid purchase does not automatically permit every use. Check whether the creator allows a paid printing service to print it for you, and ask the creator if the terms are unclear.
- Check the size and scale. Note the intended dimensions, base size and whether the model comes in separate parts.
- Read the printing notes. Check whether the design is intended for resin or FDM and whether supports are included. Pre-supported files still need to be assessed for the intended printer and scale.
- Buy from the creator or their authorised store. Avoid reuploaded files and bundles that do not clearly identify the original designer.
Found something you want us to print?
- Request a custom quote and tell us the model you have in mind.
- Include the original listing link, quantity, desired size or scale, and any material preference.
- Let us confirm the file's suitability and how to provide it before proceeding.
The digital file cost and our printing charge are separate. Availability, file quality and licence terms vary by designer and platform. These are independent sources; their inclusion here does not imply a partnership with The Printable Dragon.
